Tips and tricks after you get your braces
- Brush at least 3 times daily to prevent plaque accumulation around your brackets.
- Use orthodontic wax on any areas you may feel are sharp.
- Avoid foods that are hard or sticky. This may lead to breakage of braces and prolong treatment time.
- If your braces break, do not panic. Place some orthodontic wax around the area that may be poking and schedule an appointment at the soonest possible time.
- To reduce soreness after an adjustment, I would advise to swish some cold water for about 60seconds or eat something cold (Like an ice-cream or frozen yoghurt!)
- If you are an individual who is into lot of contact sports, speak to Dr. Sanjay about an Orthodontic Mouthguard which may protect you and your braces from any breakage
- Choose braces which make you smile with confidence and suits your comfort level.
- After your braces/aligners are off, make sure you wear your retainer as per Dr. Sanjay’s advice. Retainers are the only way to keep your teeth in your new position and avoid unexpected tooth movements.
